While doing some online research today I ran across this article about what is the best age to start your child in martial arts. My first thought was about all the drills we do in our 3 to 5 year old Little Dragons Classes. We work on balance, hand-eye coordination, right and left, gross motor skills, memory, teamwork, social skills and quite a bit more. Recently we have added curriculum designed specifically for our 3, 4 and 5 year old students. The growth we see with these students is wonderful and rewarding for all our instructors and helpers.
The article also made me think about several of our junior black belts, almost black belts, and even instructors that started out in the Little Dragons program. It's amazing to think about how much they have grown as individuals and as martial artists over the years.
Though I totally agree that there is tremendous growth and development potential for our pre-school children, I also agree that there are great benefits no matter what age you start. After all, I started training in taekwondo when my oldest child was 6 years old. Sometimes I believe it is easier for children to start simply because they are less self-conscious about what others might think than an adult. All it takes to get started is getting out there and trying a class, whatever your age. See you all on the mats!

Great school. I see significant improvement in physical and mental strength in my son in 8 months. Helped him raising his self confidence and true character building. And nice thing is he enjoys it.
Love this school! As a business owner I am particular about the work I do and always expect the best results. So happy to have found a school with the same values and expectations. Yes, I am an adult participant, and attended for a short time while in school in the area. I was looking for a great workout and the benefit of self defense skills was a plus. Also, being new to the area, I enjoyed the Village TKD family events.
It is a family business with over 30 years of combined experience. They LOVE what they do and always keep it interesting with new workouts, relays and practice skills. Their fees are reasonable compared to other schools. And, they have multiple class times available during the week. Don't wait!!! Start now. I wish I would have 30 years ago or more....
What an excellent place to take your family to learn martial arts. Their instructors are caring, attentive, and looking to improve your child's focus & attitude, all while having fun. It's a great place if you are looking to make a difference in your child's life!
